Meet the author
"Age is not a retreat — it's a frontier."
I'm Belinda Bates, writing from Queensland, Australia. My work explores mindful living, simplicity, and the quiet courage it takes to live with intention in the second half of life.
Expansive Vision is my small, long-evolving solo project — a place where I gather the wisdom, insights, and hard-won realisations of midlife and beyond, and offer them to others who are searching for more than just retirement.
When I'm not writing, I'm in the garden, on a nature walk, or journalling — finding the small freedoms that make a life feel expansive.

The colouring book arrived just when I needed something to slow me down. I've started doing a page every evening — it's become my favourite part of the day.
Finally — a book that feels like it was written for someone my age, not at them. Belinda has a way of making you feel seen and gently encouraged.
I gave the recipe collection to my mother as a Christmas gift. She rang me straight away to read me the mango salad recipe. Lovely, simple, joyful.
